AI Act & EU regulations: the 2027 practical guide
Timeline and scope
AI Act: transparency on 2 August 2026; Annex III high-risk systems on 2 December 2027; Annex I products on 2 August 2028. The DSA generally applies from 17 February 2024, depending on the service. CSRD does not create a universal obligation for every small business or website.
The AI Act (Regulation EU 2024/1689) is the first global framework regulating artificial intelligence. Its Article 50, on transparency of AI systems facing the public, applies from 2 August 2026. This page gathers the practical guide published by BXLOVE ASBL for SMEs, hospitality businesses and independents.
What the AI Act changes
The regulation classifies AI systems by risk level and sets transparency duties: clearly telling users they interact with an AI, flagging artificially generated content, documenting the systems in use.
